Digital Badge Information for NJIT Students

Participants who successfully complete Makerspace trainings will earn an NJIT digital badge, issued by NJIT and hosted through Parchment. NJIT digital badges are verifiable, shareable credentials that recognize learning, achievements, skills, or competencies gained through NJIT experiences.

Once earned, your badge will be delivered to your NJIT email. The first time that you receive a badge, you will need to create an account using your NJIT email by signing in with Google. After that, you can access all of your badges in your Parchment Backpack. 
 

From there, you can:

• Access all of your badges from your Backpack at any time
• Share your badge on LinkedIn and other social platforms
• Include it on resumes, portfolios, and applications
• Use it as a concrete way to demonstrate your interests, achievements, skills, and competencies when seeking a new opportunity (e.g., internship, employment, etc.)

Each badge includes detailed information (metadata) about who issued it, what it represents, what you did to earn it, when it was earned, and related skills. 

	MAKE 101 The Make 101 digital badge is issued in recognition of the successful completion of an introductory learning experience in Makerspace operations. Earners have demonstrated foundational knowledge of the Makerspace environment, including safety protocols, and basic operational standards. This credential signifies readiness to begin engaging with tools and technologies in the Makerspace.
	MAKE 102 The Make 102 digital badge is issued in recognition of the successful completion of introductory training in CO₂ laser cutting and engraving. Earners have demonstrated knowledge of laser safety, equipment setup, file preparation, and basic operation of CO₂ laser systems. This credential signifies competency to safely and effectively perform entry-level laser cutting and engraving tasks within the Makerspace.
	MAKE 103 The Make 103 digital badge is issued in recognition of the successful completion of introductory training in the additive manufacturing process of 3D printing. Earners have demonstrated knowledge of 3D printing principles, including file preparation, printer setup, material considerations, and the variety of 3D printing technologies. This credential signifies competency to independently operate open access 3D printing equipment within the Makerspace.
	MAKERSPACE BASICS The Makerspace Basics digital badge is issued in recognition of the successful completion of the Make 101, Make 102, and Make 103 foundational credentials pathway. Earners of this badge have demonstrated competency across essential Makerspace domains, including facility orientation and safety (Make 101), laser cutting and engraving (Make 102), and 3D printing (Make 103). This credential signifies readiness to engage in Makerspace activities with a broad understanding of core technologies, safety standards, and operational practices.
